Tallano Technologies, a French clean-tech company focused on reducing particulate matter emitted by vehicle braking, and Nabtesco, a leading Japanese railway braking systems manufacturer, have reached a new milestone in their partnership.

Since 2023, the two companies have been working together to test, Tallano’s technology TAMIC®, designed to capture over 70% of the fine particles emitted during braking, thus improving air quality, particularly in closed environments like underground stations. With environmental regulations tightening worldwide and growing focus on sustainable urban mobility, TAMIC® offers a step forward toward a healthier urban environment.

After a year of joint development bench tests were conducted in late 2024 using Nabtesco-manufactured braking systems, validating the system’s effectiveness.

Tallano and Nabtesco are now preparing the next phase: equipment in real-world conditions of trains in Japan, in partnership with local railway operators. The goal is to prepare for full-scale deployment in the coming years.

“Tallano Technologies brings more than 10 years of Research & Development to enable cleaner air in cities worldwide. Japan is a global leader in rail technology, working with Nabtesco is a key step for us to bring our solutions to new markets and help reduce transport environmental impact worldwide,” said Jean-Louis Juchault, CEO of Tallano Technologies.

According to global studies, efforts leading to a better air quality improve citizens’ health, increases life expectancy, and has a positive tangible effect on the economy– making this solution particularly timely.

This collaboration is part of Tallano’s global strategy to expand the use of TAMIC® and contribute to more sustainable and healthier cities around the world.
